He has been visually impaired since birth. Rahul comes from a family of agricultural workers and went to Pune to do his schooling at a blind school. While in class XII, he started Snehankit (Association for the Non-seeing Friends) that helps the visually impaired, in particular the youth from rural Maharashtra, to achieve independence, self-confidence and dignity. Snehankit now also offers training on basic MS Office skills andprogramming languages like C and C++ using speech enabled software – JAWS to the visually impaired.
